Far East El Paso is everything east of Joe Battle Boulevard and Loop 375, running out to Darrington Road where Horizon City begins. This is the metro's fastest-growing frontier and it shows: population growth has outpaced road infrastructure, which is both the slogan and the daily reality. The Amazon distribution center anchored near I-10 and Eastlake Boulevard catalyzed the commercial explosion here, and River Oaks Properties has built seven shopping centers totaling more than $100 million along Eastlake Boulevard from I-10 north to Darrington Road. An Albertsons and 45,000-plus square feet of retail at Eastlake and Darrington are the newest anchors.

Montana Avenue (US-62/180) is the single most important road in this zone. It runs east from the established East Side through far east El Paso County, past the Montana Vista colonia and toward Horizon City. As of December 2025, four bridges are under construction at the Loop 375 and Montana interchange, with 14 girders already placed and a completion date described as "still far out." Business owners along Montana have documented losses from the construction disruption, and the irregular lanes and debris from the project are generating flat tires and crashes on a stretch already prone to zero-visibility dust storms, because Montana runs east-west across open desert with nothing to break the wind.

Montana Vista proper is an unincorporated colonia northeast of Horizon City with no city services. The La Fe Montana Vista Community and Resource Center serves residents with ESL classes and Medicaid and SNAP assistance, which tells you the base population is not yet English-dominant. A towing call from Montana Vista at night is in Spanish. Some streets are unpaved or narrow, and a large flatbed cannot reach every address. Eastlake High School at 13000 Emerald Pass, a Socorro ISD campus with 2,164 students, is the educational anchor for the whole corridor.
